Materials

Materials are supplies that you create products with.

Upload a CSV

  1. From your dashboard, make sure you select Materials on the sidebar to access your Materials page.

  2. In the upper-right hand corner, select the [...]

  3. Select Import CSV.

  4. Add your CSV file.

  5. Once added, a matching screen will appear.

  6. Match the columns on Inventora to the appropriate columns in the CSV.

  7. Select Upload in the bottom right-hand corner.

  8. A success screen will appear and the Materials will be added into Inventora.

Add an individual material

  1. From your dashboard, make sure you select Materials on the sidebar to access your Materials page.

  2. In the upper-right hand corner, select Add Material.

  3. Enter your material details.

  4. Click Save.

Add a Material Photo

  1. On your Materials page, select the Material you want to add a photo for.

  2. On the material details screen click on Edit Details.

  3. Scroll down where you see Photo.

  4. Click on Choose Photo and upload the material photo.

  5. Click Save.

If you click the image on the material details screen, you can view the image larger.

Material Details Breakdown

  • Name – what is the material title.

  • Current Stock Level – how many do you have in stock at this moment.

  • Stock Unit Type – what is the measurement used for tracking.

  • Minimum Stock Level – how much of this material do you always want to have on hand.

  • Material Type

    • Sourced from Supplier – this material is bought from another business.

    • Made by Me (single) – this material is made using other materials, one at a time.

    • Made by Me (in batches) – this material is made using other materials, multiple at a time.

  • Cost per Unit – what does one single piece of this material cost.

  • Supplier – what is the company name you purchase this material from.

  • Category – what would you classify this material as, to group with other similar materials.

  • Last Order Date – when did you last purchase this material.

  • SKU – what is the tracking number you have assigned to this material.

  • Notes – any additional information you want to remember for this material.

Duplicate a material

To help save time when you add a new material, you can duplicate a similar material.

When you duplicate a material, all of the material details will be copied.

How to duplicate a material:

  1. Select the Material you would like to duplicate.

  2. In the new screen, select Duplicate.

  3. Edit the new material details that need to change.

  4. Click Save.

Edit a material

After you've created materials, you can edit their details.

How to edit a material:

  1. Select the Material you'd like to edit.

  2. In the new screen, select Edit Details.

  3. Edit desired details and click Save.

Trying to edit the Material Cost? This cost is calculated based on your Supply Orders, combining all costs between shipping, taxes, and discounts. As you use Materials, using the oldest first (FIFO), the cost may change over time.

Update a material's current stock level

A material's current stock level will update automatically when you update a linked Product that uses the material, or when you receive a new Supply Order.

If you want to manually update a material's current stock level, you can do so in two ways:

  1. On the Material dashboard, under the Stock Level column, select the stock level you'd like to update.

  2. Open the Material details and select Update next to Current Stock Level.

Add or decrease stock, select the reason for adjustment, and hit Enter.

Delete a material

When you delete a Material, the material is also removed from any linked Products.

  1. Select the Material you'd like to delete.

  2. In the new screen, select [...] next to Duplicate.

  3. Select Delete Material.

To restore a deleted material, visit the History page and select Undo.
